Wow! I look at a comment like that entirely differently, Walter. I don’t see it as a threat. I see it as a sign of respect.

The person disagrees with you, but wants you to know that they’re not just some troll being negative for the hell of it. They’re a thoughtful reader who generally supports your viewpoint. They’re surprised that, this time, they don’t. They usually like what you write, but this one time, they disagree with you. So you block them and read no further?

That’s a shame because this is somebody you might actually learn something from. Are you never wrong? Is there never an angle to an issue you haven’t considered? You may as well shut down comments entirely if all you’re after is applause.
