Are you in a toxic, codependent relationship with an app? If you're beginning to think that the upside of being on Facebook doesn't make up for the downside, you're not alone.

According to Statistica, over 45% of the roughly 222 billion Facebook users in the United States aged 15 and older have considered abandoning the platform. So the question is, will they?

Here are some things to consider when you think about severing your relationship with "the book of face."

How significant a role does Facebook play in your life?

If your business page on Facebook effectively promotes your brand, you probably want to keep it. However, personal pages are another story.

I use Facebook primarily to connect with old friends. I wish them a happy birthday when prompted. I ooh and ahh over their vacations, grandchildren, and creative endeavors.
