When my husband lost his job in a mass layoff, he invested in training and certifications. At the time, I was skeptical because he had to dip into retirement savings to pay for it. He was absolutely sure it was the right move because he knew people with those qualifications were in high demand. It took time and money, but led to one of the best jobs he’s ever had.
My advice to people who lose their jobs is to put 6 to 8 hours each day into looking for a new one, including building their skill sets. This is especially important if you’re in tech. The very best of luck to all the job seekers out there.
