When I was younger, I would have urged you to try to patch things up with your brother. Now, after going through issues with some of my own siblings, I applaud your decision to let him go. At times like these, I’m reminded of that Bonnie Raitt song, “I can’t make you love if you don’t, and I can’t make your heart feel something it won’t.”

It takes most of us a long time to accept that family feeling is not always reciprocated. Unless we wake up, they’ll just keep breaking our hearts. In the end, our emotional well-being is dependent on detachment. I speak from experience.
