When Caresse Crosby invented the bra, she liberated women from corsets. It was invented by a woman and embraced by women for that reason. It wasn’t to hide nipples or anything like that. (Her original prototype was made from handkerchiefs and ribbon, so it wouldn’t have hidden much.) I hit puberty in the early 1970s when practically nobody wore a bra. I skipped the whole training bra ordeal. For several years, going braless was the norm, but eventually, most women went back to wearing them, so there must be a benefit to some people. People should do what works for them. I’m glad you’ve found what works for you, Rachael. That’s thinking outside the bra!
