Well….who knows? But I think the quote about “ticking the right boxes” is insightful. Whoever does win is going to be Medium’s poster child for a while. That means it has to be someone Medium’s top execs believe will help build their brand. Whatever the top winners write has to fit in with how Medium wants to be perceived. It has to support Medium’s agenda. It’s also got to be better than what you typically read here. It’s a tall order. Most of us only have a chance at the $100 prizes.
