Well said. I realized from the outset that the personal pronoun thing was a fad that would settle down eventually. People do what’s easy. I read an article where the subject was a non-binary person who used they instead of he or she. This person had a partner who was mentioned in the article. It became confusing because “they” could mean either the subject only or the subject and their partner.
We rely on visual clues for memory. Memorizing everyone’s personal pronouns is not practical, especially when how you identify is irrelevant to the situation. If you’re an actor, for instance, I don’t need to know how you like to be addressed. I’ll never meet you or have to introduce you to anyone.
