True story. The last rejection I got was along the lines of "not edgy enough for us." I submitted it to Illumination instead and guess what? The same person who rejected my story at the other publication is also an editor for Illumination. He accepted it at once. Turns out he loved the writing. I think people are rejected more often than they realize because they don't pay attention to the type of material a particular publication goes for.
