Times have changed. I read a lot of historical novels. The English aristocracy had so many unspoken rules of behavior that it was almost impossible for anyone raised outside those circles to gain admittance. My favorite one is that if a lady refuses to dance with someone at a ball, she can’t dance with anyone else for the rest of the evening. Sounds fair to me!
