Here’s what you can do right now to kick start your New Year’s resolution

Pictured here is the hottest selling dessert of the 2021 holiday season: the Christmas piecaken. Here’s how it inspired me, oddly enough, to write about everyone’s favorite New Year’s resolution: losing weight.

Some of you may already be familiar with the original version created by pastry chef Zac Young as a sweet treat accompaniment to the Turducken (A turkey stuffed with a duck stuffed with a chicken). The idea is to combine multiple desserts into one.

I bought the Christmas Piecaken this year for a holiday party I planned to have with ten other people. But, unfortunately, we decided to cancel the shindig due to COVID concerns. So, now I was faced with the challenge of what to do with this over-the-top, decadent monstrosity.

The Christmas Piecaken consists of pecan pie, topped with eggnog cheesecake, red velvet cake frosted with amaretto buttercream, and crowed with a scoop of cherry pie filling. Since my son canceled his plans to fly home for Christmas (same reason), it’s just my husband and me.
