This is the perfect follow up to another story I was reading today, Alison. The writer related an incident where she was followed to her car by a man after she left a bar who then insisted she thank him for “walking her to her car.” When she refused to shake his hand, he hurled abuse at her.

Although she was creeped out and filled with righteous anger, she found herself momentarily questioning whether or not she had indeed been ungrateful and unkind. That’s how insidious our programming is. I think most women have experienced that at one time or another. The book you recommended sounds interesting. I’ll have to check it out. Thanks.
