There was nothing narcissistic about your comment, Katharine. I also agree that the big flap about the Lady in Waiting’s “racist” questions is ridiculous. She’s ancient. I imagine, to her mind, she was being polite and making an effort to get to know someone. If she were a raging racist, she wouldn’t have gotten near a black person let alone engaged her in conversation. Yes, she spent most of her life blissfully unaware of the struggles of people of color but that doesn’t make her the Grand Wizard of the KKK. It simply makes her less sensitive than she should be, which makes her typical of most people.
