The young are always dismissive of the old. They'll find out, if they're lucky. While I admire your ability to live large, I don't think you're typical. Most older people aren't particularly active and most lack the resources to buy a treadmill let alone climb Kilimanjaro. I think the biggest obstacle to respect and acknowledgement for older people is the obsessive desire to look and feel young. Billions are being spent on it even as we speak. Just as many women are complicit in the objectification of women, many older people are complicit in the negative attitudes about the aged.
