The poem was, I think, Tony’s take off on one of Dorothy Parker’s. An editor for Barren Magazine (which publishes poetry, among other things) was fired because she tweeted something to the effect that nobody reads poetry but other poets, and it isn’t something powerful that impacts the world at large. Her bosses did not appreciate her jaded opinion, however accurate it may be. Other people feel her firing was unfair.
