The grocery store sure has changed, hasn’t it Roz? I remember there used to be an annual bagging competition among grocery clerks to see who did the best job the fastest. Those were in the days everyone used paper bags. I hate the plastic ones. They’re made so thin now, that the clerks at Wegman’s only put two to four things in a bag.
I used to live in Alameda County, CA, where plastic grocery bags are banned. It took some getting used to, but if you forgot to bring your own bags, you could pay ten cents a piece for paper ones. It reduced trash and you no longer saw plastic grocery bags littering up the landscape. It’s been a few years, but you used to just hand the clerk your bags and they filled them.
