The exit tax only applies to those with assets in excess of $2 million. I’ve applied for dual citizenship with Ireland. That country, along with others, has an agreement with the U.S. so that expats who retain their US citizenship are not subject to double taxation. I believe it works along the same lines as it does when a person lives in Pennsylvania but works in New Jersey.

The system is badly broken, but there’s still too much sympathy with the billionaires because many Americans are hoping to be among them one day. One of the reasons they want to is so that they can work the system that’s been screwing them all these years themselves. If the Russians nuke Washington D.C., maybe we could restructure. Otherwise, I’m afraid it’s still SSDD.
