That’s so true, Bill. I’m of the opinion that a person’s positive contributions to society should not be disregarded in light of their personal failings. Many great minds and talents were/are pretty miserable human beings. Bad behavior shouldn’t be given a pass no matter who it is, but their work should be held apart from that. In the same way, good behavior shouldn’t be a yardstick for whether or not someone’s accomplishments are viewed favorably. We wouldn’t look at Hitler and say, “Sure, he did some terrible things, but he loved animals.”
