Thanks, Joshua. I’m looking forward to seeing Enola Holmes. My all-time favorite Sherlock is Jeremy Brett, but Benedict Cumberbatch gives him a run for the money. I don’t care for Guy Ritchie’s take on Holmes. I think turning him into an action hero ruins the premise of brains over brawn that is central to the Holmes mystique. I adore Robert Downey, Jr., but he’s no Sherlock Holmes. I’ve read quite a few books that use Conan Doyle’s characters. Laurie R. King’s Mary Russell series is a lot of fun. There’s even a cozy mystery series with Mrs. Hudson as the superior sleuth. When someone has created great characters, the spin offs practically write themselves. I guess that’s why they’re so popular with writers!
