Thanks for your story, Bebe. My parents cared for my mother’s parents and my husband and I for his mother. My grandmother and my mother-in-law both had big personalities so caring for them was an ordeal at times. My friends were astonished I agreed to care for my mother-in-law. To me it was just what we did in my family. She is the only one of his grandparents that my son got to know, and they adored each other. That alone was a blessing. I think it made him a kinder more compassionate person. As for your mother’s groaning, trust me. It could be worse. Let’s just say no good deed goes unpunished and leave it at that!
