Thanks, Anthony. This was a hard lesson I learned during the great recession. After 17 years of great performance, my husband’s company let him go. He’s in IT, we lived in the SF Bay Area and he was over 50. He was out of work for three years. During that time, my husband took courses, got certifications, and reinvented himself as an Agile Project Management coach. We had to relocate for his job, but when he landed it, he made more money than ever before. I was very much opposed to adding debt when we had no income, but it was the right decision. To quote the book Dune, “Fear is the mind killer.” My husband wasn’t afraid and it made all the difference.
