Thank you, Bev, for putting things into perspective. I recently watched an old interview of John Lennon where he said that most of the hate directed at his wife Yoko Ono was media driven. He said that the people they encountered out in public didn’t sneer at her and were friendly to both of them.
In the Golden Age of Hollywood, gossip columnists made up feuds between actors because it sold newspapers. Twitter operates on the same principles. It’s only ever been a small percentage of people who care about tweets trending: those who have something to gain (like clicks) and those who are lonely, bored, or batshit crazy.
