Thank you, Amanda, for your thought-provoking essay. There are two reasons I can think as to why the filmmakers proceeded as they did: 1. They didn’t want to pay you and 2. They didn’t want your input because it would limit their creative license.

Trying to get the story right is too hard, too time consuming, and not “job one” for them. Job one is producing a film that will generate as much income as possible. I am profoundly sorry this horrible, prolonged, experience took years of your life, changing its trajectory forever. I’m also sorry that people just can’t leave it alone.
