Tags and trigger warnings allow people to avoid growth. Being surprised by unexpected content is a good thing. If every show with an element of LGBTQ+ content is tagged as such, homophobic people won’t watch it. They will successfully avoid the discomfort of having their bigotry challenged by characters, who, though different from themselves in one way, are relatable and sympathetic in others.
