Rowling’s use of a man dressed as a woman is nothing new. Lots of other authors have used that device. I don’t think the intention was anything more than an attempt to make the mystery harder for the audience to solve.

As to her tweets, they reflect her personal experience and subjective outlook. She’s trying to explain why she believes what she does and, although some take offense at her comments, they don’t strike me as being intentionally hateful.

It’s unfortunate that the ability for thoughtful and open discourse you demonstrate in your response to comments on this story is not evident in the story itself. The world isn’t going to be better for anyone until content providers and broadcasters abandon outrage as a means to attract an audience. Trump isn’t the only wall builder around these days. It’s unfortunate it works so well to get attention.
