Of course she lives in a bubble. She has a net worth of a billion dollars, and millions of people all over the world who either want to move in with her or smack her in the face. She’s got a blind spot in this area. She’s not perfect. But to use this to try to ruin all the good she’s done in the world makes no sense.

Women have been oppressed, ignored, and abused throughout history. One of the few things we had that men did not was the ability to give birth. Our value to society, rightly or wrongly, was tied up in that. Science has now made it possible for those assigned the dominant gender at birth to appropriate what was once ours alone. It’s not surprising that some women would feel threatened by that.

Trans folks aren’t the only ones whose feelings should be respected. She has donated over $160 million to charity. Her books have encouraged children and adults worldwide to read and to dream.

She’s not out in the street with a bullhorn railing against transgender people or funding campaigns to strip them of their rights. There are people who are. You might want to focus on them. They are doing much more damage than her few remarks will ever do.
