My husband and I grew up in the Northeastern US. After college, we moved to California and lived there over 30 years. Circumstances forced us to relocate back to the Northeast in our mid-fifties. We were very happy in California, but as soon as we got back here, we realized that this is where we belong. We’ve been back almost ten years. My husband retires next week. There are less expensive places to live in the US, but we are debt-free, have no mortgage, and between our retirement savings and Social Security, we can live quite comfortably. We plan to stay where we are.
