My first experience with ageism was when I went to work at c|net when I was 35. Almost all the other writers were at least 10 years younger than me. I could tell a lot of them wondered what the hell I was doing there. No where is ageism more prevalent than in the San Francisco Bay Area, but it's pretty bad everywhere else, especially in certain industries.

Almost everyone I grew up with was either laid off by age 60 or forced to take early retirement. Even my brother-in-law, one of the country's top geophysicists, who was such a big deal at Chevron, he was in their TV commercials, got put out to pasture early.

Boomer bashing is a favorite pastime of millennial content creators. "10 Outdated Home Decor Items That Boomers Think are Cool. No, honey. We don't think that lime green shag rug looks cool. We had it torn up in the 1980s.
