Most gifts being pushed for Mother’s Day are not something mothers want. Mothers of young children want to be left alone: a day to themselves doing nothing is heaven. Older Moms don’t really get a kick out of candy or flowers. We’re over it. We’d love a long chat on the phone, a funny poem, or a few hours of house cleaning supervised by someone else.
