Martin Turnbull writes novels about old Hollywood and does very well on Amazon.. He keeps readers on the hook by sending vintage photos of Los Angeles with photos of what the sites look like today. I've read almost all of his books, but without those emails, I would have forgotten about him long ago. He would be a good person to study. He uses lots of smart marketing tools.
