Madonna faces the level of criticism she does not because she’s a woman but because of other aspects of her personality and behavior that rub some people the wrong way. There have been plenty of men raked over the coals for having extensive plastic surgery. It’s not her gender that’s objectionable, it’s her behavior. Donald Trump has been the butt of endless jokes about his personal appearance for the same reason. Whenever someone gets too full of themselves, people like to knock them down a notch. That’s what it’s about, not misogyny.
