Lucky the house wasn’t in New York State. You would have legally been required to disclose the haunted status. Some states require disclosing if someone was murdered there, but not all. My brother-in-law had a haunted house. After experiencing lots of weird stuff, a neighbor told him a woman had stabbed her boyfriend to death in the living room. They had someone come and do a ceremony and that settled things down.
