I've come to the realization, Carol, that Medium has become a losing proposition for most of us. When did everyone stop making money? Wasn't it around the time they announced the new head honcho? Let's face it, any hiring bonus he got (and trust me, he got a big one) came right out of our pockets.

Medium has people writing for nothing, or next to it, and paying for the privilege. They make money by NOT sharing more than they absolutely have to. If they can get suckers to pony up tips in addition to subscription fees, so much the better. A lot of those tips are coming from people trying to earn by writing here. It's almost like a pyramid scheme where the first in did great and those who came later got less and less.

I like writing here, too, but it's discouraging as all get out.
