It’s true. People build whole careers on pissing people off and sharing opinions, not necessarily their own, to attract engagement. However, I think it’s important for people new to Medium to focus on the writing and the reading rather than the making of money.

There are much easier ways to make money, even to make money writing, than writing on Medium. The real value in this platform is the community, the sharing of ideas, and the access to the wisdom of others. It’s a place to experiment, raise your profile, and find your voice. Making money is easy. Becoming a great writer is hard.
