It’s a funny story. I think the cultural appropriation part is a bit much. My grandmother made what we called Irish Spaghetti because she was Irish not because it was an old country recipe. In case you’re wondering, it’s elbow macaroni and canned tomatoes with massive amounts of butter topped with tuna salad. We had it every week back when Catholics weren’t allowed to eat meat on Fridays. It’s delicious. I still make it for myself. My husband finds it horrifying, but then, he hasn’t ever tried it!
