In my experience, if you’re over 50 (over 40 in the SF Bay Area) being told you’re overqualified means only one thing: they think you’re too old. Ageism is very hard to prove. If it were easy, there’d be so many lawsuits companies would be forced to do something about it. The pandemic, like the crash in 2008 will provide companies with ample opportunities to get rid of “over-qualified" individuals.
