I'm over 60 and I found this a bit much. Sure there are a few people who might need to pay someone to figure out how to format on Medium, but that's not typical. If you're over 50, have spent much of that time in the workplace, and want to be a writer, the chances are you have some tech experience. If you can read a recipe and end up with a loaf of banana bread, you're capable of following a publication's submission guidelines. It might be easier to become successful via niche writing but not everyone is suited to that. Da Vinci didn't do niches and it worked out pretty well for him. He was still productive when he died at age 67.
