I'm glad my story was useful to you, Tim. Thanks for sharing the link. I've had great response from readers. When I wrote it, it was just to tell a personal story, but it has resonated with a lot of people.

My hearing loss is age related. I could never tolerate earbuds and didn't like headphones. There isn't much loud music or construction noise in my past, so I'm pretty sure it's just age in my case. My story was aimed at older people like me, so I was surprised to get comments from many younger people, some who had been deaf from birth.

I was a little shocked that two people urged me to learn sign language. Will it ever get that bad for me? I hope not.

Tinnitus sufferers also commented as it often is accompanied by hearing loss. I'm sorry you are among them. I can't imagine how maddening that condition must be. I hope something can be done for you.

P.S. When I saw that you applauded, Tim, I figured it was probably a bot or an imposter. I was very surprised to find out that you did indeed read and appreciate my story.

Best wishes. I'll be doing a followup after I get my aids. And, one more thing, it's okay to cry. I know I did.
