If you’re implying that the quality of the writing makes a difference in how much someone earns, I can point to plenty of examples where that’s not the case. The presentation and level of interest in the topic do make a difference.
Suppose you found out that the dollar you got from listens would have been $100 if your stories had been read. Would that be irrelevant? Of course, you never will find out because it’s not in the platform’s investors best interests to tell you.
What angers me the most about the audio feature is that I wasn’t allowed to opt out and I wasn’t invited to record my own voice. Mr. Roboto was forced upon me without my permission. The powers that be at Medium have once again demonstrated the contempt in which they hold contributors here. (As if the MWC wasn’t proof enough.)
