I wrote steadily on Medium for two years. I have 2130 followers. My highest earning story (published 12 months ago) has brought in $2662.11.
In the past few months, I've lost motivation.

It all started in February. I was bummed out that so many people were thriving on the platform by pushing doom and gloom. So, I experimented by publishing a new story every day that month on the topic of love. I wanted to see if positive stories could be profitable if you produced enough of them. I had the second worst monthly earnings ever. That took the wind out of my sails and I've been struggling ever since.

Your story further supports what I've suspected for a while: I was too late to the party. I wrote more stories in two years than you did in nine, but you acquired lots more followers.

I like Medium because you can write whatever you want. I'm not a niche writer, so I like that aspect, but it's harder to gain a following. It will be interesting to see if any of the changes "Coach Tony" (God help us!) makes a positive difference for writers like me.
