I wonder. It’s certainly a habit with some people, but in this case, why was he a gentleman and she a girl? If it’s about being brought up to assign this courtesy to adults, why wasn’t she a lady? Children often refer to “that lady”, but I rarely hear adults do. Thanks for your comment.
