I will start benefits in March when I reach full retirement age of 66 and 8 months. The spousal benefit is more than I'm entitled to for my work history and since my husband is already collecting, I wouldn't get any more by waiting until 70. We had lots of problems signing up for Medicare but Social Security is pretty easy. We are on a very tight budget until my SS kicks in, but after that we should be able to relax a bit. We never had a budget before my husband retired. Now it's an essential part of our lives. Holding on to our money is more work than earning it was in the first place.
