I share your enthusiasm, Michael. I’m a former Catholic school kid, myself. I would add one more suggestion to President Biden (I know it’s premature but I’m so ready for him to be confirmed): ban the billionaires. One of the problems we have is that we have too many rich and entitled people in the upper echelon of government. They can’t empathize with the common person because it’s either been too long since they were one or because they never were one in the first place. A perfect example of this phenomenon is the average corporate wage slave who has always had health insurance. They’ve never seen a $2,500 bill for an ER visit or a $90,000 bill for a hospital stay. They don’t get it because, not only have they never been on the hook for that kind of dough, they’ve been blissfully unaware that there are millions of people who have. If a person making $140,000 a year is that clueless, it’s easy to see how someone making $140,000,000 is going to be even worse. We can’t equal the playing field if we keep populating the team with heavy hitters. Don’t make Meg Whitman Secretary of Commerce. She’s part of the problem. Appoint a top seller on eBay. They know what it is to scramble and figure things out without an army of minions and an Ivy League education. They don’t have a golden parachute. They succeed because failure is not an option. We need people in government with a demonstrated affinity for and understanding of the huddled masses. We don’t need a shark tank. We’ve tried that and the results have been disastrous.
