I recently started writing on NewsBreak, too, Renata. Like you, I was initially turned down back when they had that sweetheart deal of a guaranteed income for x number of stories. I guess once they stopped doing that, they lost a lot of writers, so they invited me to join. I did and was accepted, but I didn’t write anything because the new rules are that you need 10 stories (preferably local) and 100 registered users to monetize. That sounded like me doing a lot of work for free.
But then I realized there was something besides money I could get out of NewsBreak: exposure for things like plays my friends and I are in or restaurants in the area I love. I’m also fascinated by local history. I now have my 10 stories and about 20 registered followers. I’m anxious to monetize so I can really judge the value of my involvement.
