I really despise people like Rachel Hollis, Rivka. We should all know better, but most of us have fallen for some of these false promise vendors at some time in our lives. Usually, it’s when we’re at our most vulnerable. The vast majority of self-help folks are in it for the money. Full stop.

The people sincerely striving to help others are unknown to the world at large because they’re do damn busy helping people to promote themselves or build their brands.

Our local news recently did a story about a woman who set up a food pantry in her garage several years ago. Since then, she’s been helping those in need in her neighborhood. She didn’t start a non-profit, tax exempt organization and appoint herself CEO soliciting donations to pay herself a salary. She just accepts food donations and distributes them. Some of those she helped in the past donate food to her pantry now. People like her deserve our praise and recognition, not people like Rachel Hollis.
