I read a lot of Hollywood biographies and autobiographies, Amy, and I’ve read many stories about male directors who were jerks, so I don’t think it’s accurate to say Olivia Wilde has been targeted for negative publicity simply because she’s pretty and female. Kathryn Bigelow has received some negative press over the years, but nothing worse than many male directors have received.

We also need to be aware that negative stories get more attention and always seem to come out right around the time a film opens. It’s entirely possible that some negative stories are marketing ploys. That’s not to say sexism isn’t involved, of course.
