I loved this, Toya. I watched the play No Man’s Land with my mother on PBS many years ago. It’s a dark play with some profanity and adult themes. I kept looking over to see her reaction. This was a woman who never said “damn” or “hell.” I didn’t even think she was aware worse words existed. (She grew up in the Bronx, so I was pretty naive to think that.) I was waiting for a lecture or condemnation of “falling standards” when, the show over, I asked her what she thought. “It was good. I enjoyed it.” I was shocked.
