I know someone who goes to a church where they have coffee hour after the service. People take turns hosting and there has to be a theme. This person did Alice in Wonderland. I’m guessing that the theme idea was adopted to entice more people to stay for coffee hour, which I presume is a great place to pressure them into working on the holiday craft fair or cleaning the gutters. I imagine it gets a bit competitive as to whose theme was best. I don’t currently go to church, but if I did, I would not stay for coffee hour.
