I got this impression of Ellen by watching her on her “Game of Games” show. She seemed to take genuine delight in the contestants’ failures and humiliations. I also remember one time in an interview when she was asked why she never had children. She blamed Portia. It was Portia who didn’t like kids. That may be true, but I was struck by the fact that she felt she had to blame her partner. I suspect she did this because, if people believed she didn’t like children, it would hurt her image.
