I don’t get the tattoo craze at all, Jean. It’s been proven that human beings are attracted to symmetry, so since people rarely have matching tattoos on both sides of their bodies, they’re not doing themselves any favors in that respect. I once saw a woman with playing cards tattooed on the backs of her calves. Why? She can’t even see them herself.
Very often, people are motivated to get a tattoo when they are either drunk or in a deeply emotional state. Bad idea. Someone they love dies and they rush out and get the person’s portrait tattooed on their arm. Unfortunately, most tattoo artists aren’t skilled in portraiture and the ones I’ve seen like this are pretty bad. I also question whether it’s wise to wear a constant reminder of your grief on your skin. I know people deal with grief in different ways, so I may be totally off base with this.
