I agree with your take on this, Bonnie. It’s clear that the woman is tempted to stay, but she’s concerned about what people might think. If you don’t want to stay, you don’t suggest “half a drink more.” The left is shooting itself in the foot focusing on this nonsense. They need the Independents to win elections, but the Independents are getting tired of this focus on trivia.
